Oct 10th-Oct 14th

Thanks so much to everyone who came to the Human Growth and Development Presentation and Math Night! It was a wonderful evening from start to finish. Thanks so much for your participation!

We managed to get our flour, salt and water mixtures combined for our landform models last Friday morning. Big thanks go out to Marco's mom for her support and assistance to students and teacher. The next step came yesterday as students followed their blueprint to create landforms and water forms such as meanders, floodplains, and deltas. We will complete the final step of painting our landforms later this week.

Students have begun new math groups this week based on a pre-assessmnent taken last week. Our new unit includes multiplication, division, factors, multiples,LCM, GCF, exponents, and order of operations. All of these skills are easier with quick recall of multiplication  facts! Drill those facts, especially 6's-12's.

New Peak vocabulary words (Unit 3) will be handed out Thursday.  We are making good progress in the novel with excitement building as to whether Peak will make it to the top of Mt. Everest. Students will complete their Four Kinds of Sentences Projects by the end of this week.

Please be on the lookout for a D.C. schedule of events and payment plan in today's Wed folder. Also remember to send in permission slips and $$ for our Nov.18th field trip to the Poe Health Center.

Parents, opportunities abound if you are interested in helping raise scholarship funds for our D.C. trip.  Please email Kirsten O'Brien at iveyobrien@bellsouth.net to let her know if you would like to sell hotdogs at the Joyner Jamboree or volunteer at the school store on Thurs. mornings.
