Week of Oct 24th

Oh my! It has been an exciting week! You can see evidence of our class spirit in the pictures below.  Wacky Tacky Day is tomorrow and Friday we will end the week by showing our JYJ colors.

This week we have continued our study of figurative language comparing metaphors and similes. Tomorrow students will search for and explain examples of similes in our novel Peak.  We had a brief scare when reading Peak today...it seemed that Peak's opportunity to reach the summit of Mt. Everest had ended but thankfully through an unexpected twist of the plot Peak is still a viable candidate to make it to the top! We will have a quiz on Unit 3 Peak vocabulary on Friday of this week.

Students will take a math post assessment at the end of next wek as we finish our unit on multiplication and division. As our landform unit draws to a close students have created topographical maps that show elevation.  I am including some examples below.

Thanks so much for remembering to consistently sign your child's agenda each evening. Good homework habits are crucial to success in school.
